An Ounce of Prevention is Worth...a Pound of Hair?

Benjamin Franklin once said, "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" - sound advice from the great American statesman. Although the comment was made in context with fire prevention, it's applicable in many ways to our general health and well being. If you take proper care of yourself now, you avoid potential ailments that may arise in the future.

This is especially important when caring for our hair and scalp. Many of the products on the market today address the aftermath of hair loss, which usually occurs over a period of time. Too often, we end up thinking that we could have minimized the hair loss if we had paid more attention to it when we were younger.

For those of you in the early phases of thinning hair or hair loss, take Mr. Franklin's words to heart. You can mitigate the effects of future hair loss if you properly care for your hair and scalp now.

Let me tell you a funny story. Back when my wife and I first met, I used to tease her about how many moisturizers and creams she would use on her face. At that point in our lives, we didn't know if they would have any effect, but fast forward 20 years later, and my wife looks better than she did when we met! Literally, she looks like she's in her 20's, and I credit part of that to her regimen of prevention.

You have a wealth of solutions to take advantage of. Notably, shampoos that deep clean your scalp and eliminate the buildup of sebum that clogs follicles - leading to hair loss. Find a shampoo that contains Zinc pyrrolidone carboxylic acid, or simply Zinc PCA. Zinc is an essential trace element that occurs naturally in our bodies, and studies have shown that it can inhibit fungal and bacterial growth.

Zinc PCA can treat a multitude of scalp conditions, including scalp acne, seborrheic dermatitis, sebum build-up in follicles, and other scalp related bacteria issues. The best solution for you depends on the level of hair loss and hair type. Incorporate a shampoo with Zinc PCA into your daily routine to deliver that "ounce of prevention". While it may not result in a "pound of hair", your scalp will be cleaner and better able to slow the effects of hair loss.
