Do "Natural DHT Blockers" Work?

While shopping recently, I came across a "natural" DHT blocker on a store shelf.  This particular product was placed right next to a branded Minoxidil solution, and priced similarly.

That had me thinking - how could a completely unproven solution be priced the same as an FDA-approved solution such as Minoxidil?  Keep in mind, Minoxidil is one of the only solutions proven to regrow hair - a claim the natural DHT blocker might not be able to make.

Dealing with Tinea Versicolor

It's been a while since I've last blogged, primarily due to a few reasons. One of those was a recent diagnosis of Tinea Versicolor, or TV.

TV is a yeast infection of the skin, characterized by pink and brown blotches that usually appear on the trunk of the body - notably the chest and shoulders. I didn't notice it at first, since it started around late summer, and I thought it was my skin peeling (something that happens to me often after I get a tan).

Covering gray hair – why should bald guys have all the fun?

Life can be cruel sometimes. That was evident to me when I recently decided to grow a beard, only to find about half of it was gray hair! I have been told that gray hair is a blessing – just ask a bald guy. Unfortunately, I suffer from thinning hair as well, and since what’s left of it is turning gray, that’s hardly a consolation.

Benjamin Franklin once said, "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" - sound advice from the great American statesman. Although the comment was made in context with fire prevention, it's applicable in many ways to our general health and well being. As a practitioner of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu myself, I take great care to wash my gi after rolling and I disinfect my mouthguard diligently. Of course, to mitigate the possibility of getting a skin infection or rash, I shower after every session as well.
